Converting from the Old MasterVision

Here is how to install MasterVision to your network:

1. Download the full version of MasterVision and install it to the SERVER drive. Download It.
2. Download the VFP8 Runtime files and install it on the SERVER. Save this file somewhere on the server where your workstations can access it. Download It.
3. Start the new MasterVision on the SERVER. The log-in is XXX and DEMO for the passord.
4. Select File > Change Data Directory. Change to the c:\Program Files\MV2\Data folder.
5. Exit out of MasterVision
6. Download the conversion program. Save it to the SERVER where you installed MV2. It should replace the file that is already there. Download it.
7. Open My Computer
8. Switch to the MV2 directory on the server
9. Double-click on the Convert.exe program
10. When asked where you old data is, point it to the location of your old MasterVision data
11. Once the conversion if complete, start the new MasterVision. XXX and a blank password will get you into the system and test that things look OK.

Now the system is installed on the server, you need to install the system on the workstations:

1. Install the VFP8 Runtime files from Step 2 on the workstaion
2. Download the update and install it on each computer. Let it install to the default location of c:\Program Files\mv2 unless you have good reason to change it.
3. Open My Computer, go to the C:\Program Files\MV2 folder. Delete the DATA and SAMPLE folders you will find there.
4. Start > Programs > MasterVision 2 > MasterVision
5. When the program starts, you'll get some error messages about DATAVIEW not being found. Ignore these errors. Eventually, the program will ask you where the DATA is and where the DATAVIEW is. Point it to the directory on the SERVER where the new DATA directory is for MV2.
6. Exit MasterVision after selecting the directory
7. Restart MasterVision. The program should not ask about the data any more.
